Hi, I’m Martin Bamford, a photographer in Cranleigh, Surrey, who focuses (every pun intended) on portrait, event and brand photography.
Before becoming a full-time freelance photographer during the pandemic, I advised wealthy clients on what to do with their pensions, and talked about money on the radio and in newspapers. Photography is a lot more fun!
Today, I work with individuals and small businesses to create photos that tell compelling stories.
In the past five years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with solopreneurs, creative agencies, musicians, actors, artists, authors, charities, government ministers, and even members of the Royal Family.
I take pride in delivering consistently good photos from sessions my clients tell me are relaxed and, most importantly, fun. Why not find out for yourself?
I work with individuals and small businesses in the Surrey Hills, and occasionally venture as far as Sussex and Hampshire.
We can work together at your home or office, or find a suitable location.
Unlike many photographers, I charge a fixed fee for each session, which includes the final edited images and all image rights. Working with me won’t wipe out your bank account after a hard sell ‘gallery view session’, known in our industry as in-person sales.

Todays shoot with Martin was an absolutely lovely way to spend an afternoon! From start to finish it was super fun and creative and we hopefully produced some really cool shots. Pre shoot comms were great and Martin sent some ideas of what he wanted to capture. During the shoot we bounced ideas around and tried other shots which was really good fun. I’d stumbled across Martin somehow on instagram, I was immediately struck by some of his portraits of a female actor. I loved the way he had used the light in her portraits which created mood and drama.
Martin is an exceptional photographer and a really lovely person. He puts you immediately at ease and his calm nature and positive outlook immediately help you to relax in front of the camera. He had really listened to the brief I had given and provided advice on compositions to capture the look I really wanted.
