As we get to work in 2024, many of us, myself included, are embracing New Year’s resolutions around health and fitness.
My personal goal this year is to become an ultra runner again, something I’ve not been able to call myself for a decade since my last couple of races in 2014.
I’ve already ticked off three 5k parkruns in the past week or so, which means I’m off to a better start than in previous years when I’ve attempted to return to running!
It’s not just about running for me this year, but holistic health, including ice baths, a primal diet, and a more conscious approach to rest and recovery.
Why? Because there’s an undeniable link between our physical wellbeing, mental sharpness, and business performance.
Here’s how you can incorporate healthy habits into your business routine:
1 – Steady Progression: Just like in running, business growth shouldn’t be a sprint. It’s about setting a sustainable pace. Start with small, manageable goals and gradually increase your targets. This consistent, steady approach helps avoid burnout and ensures long-term success.
2 – Embrace the ‘Ice Bath’ for Your Business: Ice baths are tough but invigorating. Similarly, in business, don’t shy away from challenging situations. Embrace them. They’re opportunities for growth and learning.
3 – Fuel Your Body and Mind: The primal diet focuses on eating what’s natural and good for your body. Apply this principle to your business: consume information that enriches and nourishes your mind. Be selective about what you read, watch, and listen to.
4 – Active Rest and Recovery: Rest days are crucial in running. In business, this translates to taking meaningful breaks. Step away from work to engage in activities that rejuvenate you. This can lead to increased productivity and creativity when you return.
5 – Mental Fitness: Mental health is as important as physical health. Practice mindfulness, meditation, or any activity that helps clear your mind and reduces stress. A healthy mind can make better decisions and tackle business challenges more effectively.
