Have you considered getting a professional portrait photograph for work or fun?
As a professional portrait photographer working in the stunning Surrey Hills, I aim to create beautiful images that tell your unique story.
Setting Your Goals
Before I pick up my camera, I need to understand what you want to get from our portrait session.
Are these photos for your personal collection, professional use (perhaps to update your LinkedIn profile), or as a gift for someone special?
During our first chat, we’ll discuss your vision, style preferences, and any specific ideas you have in mind. I’m happy to work with you to create straightforward headshots, creative, dramatic portraits, and anything in between!
By setting clear goals together, we’ll get on the same page and plan a session that meets your expectations.
Getting Comfortable
I know that stepping in front of the camera can sometimes feel a bit daunting. If you’re not used to being photographed, it’s not much fun.
To ease any nerves, we’ll start with a friendly chat. I aim to get to know you a little better and help you feel more comfortable and at ease.
We can chat about your hobbies and favourite places or share a laugh. In my experience, spending this time together is pretty important when it comes to creating a relaxed atmosphere for your true personality to shine through.
Of course, if you’re a busy professional who wants to get in and out as quickly as possible, with no time for chit-chat, I can accommodate that too. I’ve had plenty of practice with high-volume headshot sessions and can always work my magic in thirty seconds if that’s what you need.
The Photography Session
Once you’re feeling comfortable, it’s time to start the shoot.
I’ll provide gentle direction to help you find the most flattering angles and poses. Spontaneity is good, too! Some of the best photos come from candid, unplanned moments.
We can explore some different settings and lighting options to capture a variety of looks.
Working in the Surrey Hills gives us plenty of scope to find beautiful locations, if you fancy getting away from a plain studio backdrop.
Reviewing the Contact Sheets
After the session, usually within 24 hours, I review all of the photos and send you a large selection of unedited images. These ‘contact sheets’ allow you to preview our session.
You can select your favourites from these contact sheets, and I often find my clients ask their loved ones for an opinion before making a final selection.
Editing and Retouching
With your favourites selected, it’s time for me to go through my proprietary editing process.
I hand-edit each photo in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, following a process I’ve carefully developed over the past decade.
The final images are retouched to balance colour, contrast, and clarity, transforming them into polished portraits.
You’ll receive high-resolution files suitable for printing and web-resolution versions ideal for sharing online. Additionally, I provide each image in both colour and black and white, giving you versatile options for different uses.
